Angkor Wat, located in Siem Reap Province, belongs to Cambodia and is a popular destination for both local and international tourists.
Angkor Wat was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century CE. He commissioned the temple as his state temple and eventual funerary tomb, dedicating it to the Hindu god Vishnu. The construction is believed to have involved around 300,000 laborers, stonemasons, and artisans over a period of about 30 years.
